Bobby is home with you.
One assistant your whole household shares. It knows who each of you is, keeps what you tell it inside your own walls, and answers the same whether you reach it from the phone in the kitchen or from Discord on a laptop.
Bobby is named after a real dog rather than a brand. A ridgeback finds the doorway with the best view of the room and settles there, where he can see everyone at once. He learns his family quickly and stays politely curious about everybody else. Ridgeback is the software, and it was built to keep his habits.
What Bobby already does.
-
Keeps the family calendar
Adds, moves and cancels events, and opens on what is next rather than on today. It reads the calendars already on your phone, so Google, iCloud and Outlook all work without connecting an account.
-
Reads and files receipts
Photograph a receipt and Bobby reads it, files it, and can tell you what a shop has cost you over a month. The reading happens without you typing anything in.
-
Runs the shared lists
Groceries, errands and reminders that everyone in the house can see and change. A reminder can find one person or the whole household.
-
Backs up your photographs
Every photo and video off every phone in the house, kept whole and shown as one album, newest first. Videos play where they sit. Bobby learns who is in them so you can ask for a person rather than scroll a year.
-
Knows the household
Who lives here, how they are related, and what you have told it about them. Ask about somebody by name and it knows which one you mean.
-
Knows where things are
Your address, how far away something is, and what is on the way home. Errands get an order instead of a list.
-
Knows where everyone is, if they say so
Each person chooses which home sees their location, and can stop at any time. Ask Bobby where someone is and it says whether they are home or how far away, never a coordinate. If you never turn it on, nothing about where you are is kept.
-
Talks in threads, like the rest of you
Reply to a message, branch a side conversation off it, send a picture or a GIF. Mention Bobby with a photo and it looks at the picture. Ask from the Bobby tab and your question gets a private thread only you can see.
-
Handles the food question
Recipes it can read off a web page, and an answer to what you can make with what is already in the house.
-
Is careful around children
Safe mode belongs to the person, not a group they are in, so no group you add them to later can switch it off. Spending and outward messages become unavailable, not hidden. A child who shares their location is seen by their parents and nobody else.
Bring your own bucket, and your own AI.
Point Ridgeback at storage you own and the photographs land in your account rather than ours. Cloudflare R2, Amazon S3, Backblaze, or a box in your basement. The same goes for the assistant: run your own model, or rent one from whoever you like.
Owning the bucket means owning the way out. You can leave without a migration, audit what is stored without asking us, and pay for exactly what your household generates.
Your storage key is encrypted the moment it arrives and there is no way to read it back, including for us. Bobby never receives it. When something needs a file, the server hands over a link that works for one file and expires in minutes.
If you would rather not think about any of this, there will be managed options where Ridgeback holds the storage and runs the model for you. Everything on this page describes bringing your own, so it does not apply to those. What does carry across is the way out: the same export has to work whether the bucket is ours or yours.
Honestly
Where Ridgeback actually is.
Updated: Documents stay in the conversation, and retries keep your work.
