Bobby keeps his word, and pushes that say something
Answers that finish after you leave, notifications with the message in them, photos and GIFs that work, and a Bobby who never claims a thing he did not do.
Bobby finishes what you asked
Leave a conversation while Bobby is answering and he keeps going. Come back and the reply is being written where you left it; if you stay away, you get a notification when it is done. Retry an answer from its menu, or fork a conversation from any message into a new thread of your own.
Bobby now knows the time on your home's clock, so "in a minute" and "tonight" mean what you meant, and an all-day event lands on the day you said. A new home takes the time zone of the phone that made it.
A Bobby who tells the truth
If Bobby says he set a reminder or added something to a list and no such thing was saved, he is asked once more to actually do it; if he still has not, his reply is replaced with a plain "I didn't actually do that." Asking twice for the same thing no longer makes two of it: Bobby says it is already on the list, while a grocery item bought last week can go back on today.
Every question and every answer is checked before and after Bobby's model runs, the same way the household's other assistants are, with a stricter check for anyone in safe mode. A home that brings its own model is not read by Ridgeback's check.
Notifications that say something
A new message arrives as "who · thread" with the words in it, and Bobby's answers as "Bobby · thread". Turn off Show message previews under Alert delivery to see only "New message". Reminders say what they are and when, on your own clock, and quiet hours hold them until morning unless you let one through. Tap any notification to open its conversation or its reminder.
Alerts are cards that show what each one is about, and opening one shows the whole message, formatted the way it looks in the thread.
Reminders you can edit
Settings has a Notifications section with your delivery preferences and every reminder ahead, home by home. Change when a reminder is due, whether it repeats, who gets it, and whether it may come through quiet hours. Remove one from inside its editor.
Photos, files and GIFs
Attach from Photos or Files, see each picture in the message box before it finishes sending, and see it in the conversation the moment you send it. Tap a picture to see it full screen and share it. Search GIPHY for a GIF from the attach menu, or send one from your keyboard on Android. Large files no longer stop the app; a file that cannot be sent says why.
Pictures and video frames are read on your phone first, with Apple's or Google's own on-device tools, and by Ridgeback's server when your phone cannot. Speech is only ever turned into text on your phone.
Maps and cards in the conversation
When Bobby finds places or plans a route, they appear as a map under his answer; trips, lists and events appear as cards you can open. When he needs to know where you are, a Share my location button sits under his message, and stays there until you use it.
Home and the Bobby page
Star a list to put it on Home; Home shows only starred lists. With several homes in view, each event says which home it belongs to, and the weather is one tidy line per home, with "Add an address" for a home that has none.
The Bobby page is cards again, each with an icon and what is next: your next event, your open lists, unread notifications, your next trip. The calendar shows the whole month, past days included.
Smaller things
Deleting an event, a list item or a trip asks "Delete?" instead of making you type; closing a home or deleting your account still does. A calendar can have several subscribe links, each named, each turned off on its own. Choose which thread a trip or list is planned in, and it stays there. Report a bug or ask for a feature from Settings.
Where the information goes
Message previews show the words of a message on your lock screen when the switch is on. GIF searches send only your search words to GIPHY, and only when you press Search. A bug report includes the app version and your device model. Pictures your phone cannot read go to Ridgeback's server, as before.
Get the build
iPhone builds arrive through TestFlight. Android, macOS and Linux downloads are on the home page. The desktop app's new screens come in a later release.
