An album of your home, and GIFs that just play
Photos becomes an album of every picture your home has kept, GIFs arrive as GIFs, trips take things by the day, and Bobby no longer drops a reply when he corrects himself.
Photos is an album
Photos now shows every picture and video your home has backed up, from every phone and every person, newest first and grouped by day. Scroll as far back as you like; pull down to refresh. Tap one to see it full screen, swipe to the next, zoom, play a video, or share it, and see who backed it up and when. Backup sits in a strip at the top with one button to allow it, start it or pause it.
Backups now send a small copy of each picture for browsing, so the grid fills in quickly, and large videos go up without being loaded into memory all at once. Pictures backed up earlier get their small copy the next time the phone that holds them opens the album.
GIFs are GIFs
Pick a GIF from GIPHY and it is sent as that GIF, straight away, with whatever you had typed as its caption; nothing is uploaded. It plays in the conversation with "via GIPHY" underneath, and a tap shows it larger. GIFs you paste, pick from your files or send from your keyboard are kept by your home and play the same way. GIFs are never read and carry no status marks.
Trips by the day
Every day of a trip has its own Add to this day, for something happening or a stop on the route. Adding to the itinerary asks which day, or none. Ask Bobby to "add dinner to day 2 at 7:30" and it lands there.
Fixes you asked for
Bobby sometimes stopped answering when he caught himself claiming something he had not done; he now corrects himself and answers. A photo sent without words gets a reply instead of silence. Notifications moved into each home's settings. The top of each screen is readable again on both light and dark screens. The sign-in link reads "Create an account".
Where the information goes
A GIF sent from GIPHY is shown by loading it from GIPHY, so GIPHY sees the internet address of each phone that displays it. Album pictures are shown from your home's storage through links that expire after a few minutes. Pictures backed up by someone in safe mode are hidden from anyone without access to their records.
Get the build
iPhone builds arrive through TestFlight. Android, macOS and Linux downloads are on the home page. The desktop app sends and shows GIFs the new way; its album comes in a later release.
